I am so excited to say that our brand new website is finally up! With my old photography site being a year old and my design site being almost three years old, it was time for an update!
This new site looks more like our blog and marketing material and everything is in ONE site! You can look at my photos, my designs and you can even purchase products online! Love it!
Also, click on Behind the Scenes to watch a video of me in action. This video was done for me by the talented Nathan Dillow and my logo animation at the end was done by Lane Oliver. They are AWESOME!
Click around and let me know what you think!
And don’t forget, we are having our biggest promotion ever! We still have dates available for 2010 and we are already booking weddings into 2011! For any brides, if you book Spink Studio for your wedding before January 31, you will receive $500 off ANY of our wedding packages! 1. {FEATURE ON SOUTHERN WEDDINGS} The highlight of my week was getting my first feature on the Southern Weddings Blog! Franki + Max’s awesome Las Vegas wedding was featured because of all their awesome details! It was a super fun wedding to photograph and I am so happy it was featured! Go check out the post!
2. {STEPHANIE’S WEDDING INVITATIONS} Congratulations to my client, Stephanie who was just recently married! I had the pleasure of designing her wedding collateral starting with her save the dates to wedding monogram to invitations to programs! They worked perfectly with her totally classy wedding. She was so easy to work with and was super detailed which made my life easy. Stephanie is starting her own wedding planning business, so if you need a planner in the Dallas area, just let me know and I’ll hook you up! If you or you know of a bride that is needing some fabulous wedding invitations, please send them my way! I love designing custom wedding invitations!
3. {DESIGN STORE} I have been pondering the idea of revamping my design website and making it into a design store where you could buy logo packages, custom wedding invitations or pick from a selection of pre-designed wedding invitations, graduation announcements, calling cards, baby announcements, etc. Is this something that would interest you? Help me out with the poll below:
4. {FUZZ LOGO} I finished up a logo for Fuzz Studios this week. This was a really fun one and it is for my good friend, Nathan. If you need a video or other creative media, let me know and I’ll send you his way.
5. {WEDDING} I am heading up to Lubbock tomorrow to shoot David and Liz’s wedding! I am anxiously waiting for the UPS guy to show up with my new telephoto lens which I am excited to use! Be watching the blog for their sneak peek.
So, it has been awhile since my last Ask Kayla Q&A. I have been super busy lately, and haven’t had much to post, so I thought it would be fun to do another round! Leave me a comment on this post and ask me any question you want related to anything about me, design, photography or anything that I do and I will answer all the questions within a couple days. I’ll try to include pictures too so this will be a visual question and answer section! Or, if you don’t have a question, feel free to just leave a comment! I look forward to reading your questions! Thanks for stopping by!
May 20, 2009 - 11:35 PMcristy cross - how do you get to be so cute :) ?
May 11, 2009 - 9:13 PMJanet Orr - Kayla, We have had sooo many wonderful comments about Stephanie's wedding invite, program, and cool monogram. We're always happy to point them in your direction. Truly, it was the prettiest invitation and program I've ever seen (tho I may be just a tiny bit prejudiced!) Thanks!!!
May 11, 2009 - 4:18 PMJennifer - I enjoy taking pictures and have never delved into the SLR world. I am looking for a great quality camera without spending a ton as I take pictures just for fun. What would you recommend? I am hoping to teach myself how to use it the camera..
May 8, 2009 - 11:31 PMSarah Hall - I second that on the jacket. Totally adorable! Great pic of you!
Why do you keep your flash on camera? And why typically backwards with the card up and sometimes to the left?
May 8, 2009 - 4:06 PMCari Hoffman - When I go on photo-shoots I sometimes go all over Lubbock with the person and it takes a long time to go shoot! Do you usually stay in the same spot or go everywhere around Midland? Also...when I burn a cd how do you put your awesome logo on it?! And one more question...where do you go to print off your photos/graduation cards? I love your photos Kayla and you are doing a wonderful job! Keep up the work!
May 8, 2009 - 8:06 AMAsh McSorley - My wife really liked your white jacket in that photo! You use Mac or PC? Canon or Nikon? Jpeg or RAW?
Thanks!
May 8, 2009 - 6:53 AMApril - Do you edit alot of your photos? If so what program do you use, and give us some of your favorite tips! Please...Thanks!!
Okay, two days late, but here it is. An update from the last week:
1. {FAMILY PHOTO SHOOT} Last Saturday, I photographed these totally adorable kids! Their mom drove them in from out of town and we had so much fun exploring some new places and taking their photos. The two boys are twins and SO very cute with the funniest personalities as you can probably tell! Sign their guest book by clicking below to see the rest of the photos when they go online. I’ll have more posted soon.
***Friends and Family: CLICK HERE to sign the Keele’s guest book to view the photos when they go online and receive a print credit.***
2. {GIFT FOR JESSIE} A month ago, Clint and I were in Las Vegas photographing Franki and Max’s amazing wedding at the Paris hotel! While we were there, we stayed with my good friend, Jessie, who is also a photographer. Jessie and I have been online friends since 2005 when we both received honorable mentions in Creating Keepsake’s Scrapbooking Hall of Fame. She was an amazing hostess showing us all kinds of awesome things about Las Vegas, took us to In-n-Out Burger (which is as good as I’ve always heard) and she also assisted me at the wedding on Saturday. We had so much fun with her and her family and they were so gracious to let us stay with them.
So, as a special gift to Jessie, I had these custom magnets made with her logo and colors of her photography studio, Speckled Bird Art. After seeing her office and her whiteboard, I knew she definitely need them. You can order your own, from another of my friends, Danielle at Something Blue Studios.
I was also considering offering these as a product with photos from your session. Would anyone be interested?
3. {PAINTING} I went and bought some canvases this week at Micheal’s. They were 40% off and I have been feeling the itch to paint. If any of them turn out cute, I’ll definitely post some photos.
4. {COMMUNITY KIDS LOGO} Here is a logo I finalized this week for Community Life Church for their children’s department. It was really fun to work on this for them. It’s just one of the many projects I have been working on.
April 3, 2009 - 1:01 PMMeghan - Like my dad's church? That's cool, I didn't realize he was serious about that. :) Love you and it all looks great... am I going to get to see you in a few weekends?
March 31, 2009 - 4:16 PMJennifer - I came across your website and your work is wonderful!
Thanks for sharing the magnet information -- what a great gift idea!
